Author Bio:
Award-winning Christian author, MJ Krause-Chivers began writing at the age of eleven with poetry and articles for the school newspaper. Later in life, during a health crisis, she began writing Christian non-fiction as a mental health coping tool. After writing Christian non-fiction for several years, she decided to explore the world of fiction, with stories that focus on trauma and the resilience of PTSD survivors.
While her faith encouraged her focus, her earlier career as a social worker provided her with writing and editing tools. It also helped her understand the impact of mental health on character development.
Katarina’s Dark Shadow is her first fiction work.
MJ (Miranda) is the granddaughter of German-Ukrainian Mennonite refugees from the Russian civil war. In 2014, she visited her ancestral birthplaces in Ukraine. There, she was impacted by the stories of ethnic genocide against the German Mennonites and her family’s traumatic escape from Soviet Ukraine. Although some survivors have written diaries of these times, few fictional accounts are available. The author decided to write a series showcasing the culture, the faith, and the political conflicts of the pre-soviet era.
